Sculptra
Sculptra is used at Spa Medicca for volume replacement in the temples, cheeks, and lateral face. Sculptra was approved in 2004. It works by stimulating your body to produce collagen. Treatments are typically performed with 2 vials. Initially 2 treatments are performed 4-6 weeks apart. Results are gradual over a 4-6 month period and typically last 2-3 years. Some patients may require additional treatments after 6 months in order to get to goal.
Unlike Juvederm that is made from hyaluronic acid, Sculptra is made from Poly L Lactic Acid. This component stimulates your body to produce collagen. The most common side effects with any filler are swelling and bruising. What is great about Sculptra is the results are natural and long lasting. It is a great option for patients that want a gradual progression of their treatment.
