Platelet Rich Plasma
What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?
PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is derived from concentrating platelets from your own blood. Platelets play a key role in healing and releasing growth factors. The procedure starts with a simple blood draw. The blood is spun in a specialized centrifuge to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood. The highly concentrated platelets are injected to release your own natural growth factors to rejuvenate the desired tissue. Since we are injecting your own growth factors there is no risk of allergies and it is free of harmful side effects
Joint_PRP & Trigger Point_PRP
For years dentists and orthopedists have been using PRP to rejuvenate and heal tissue. Many patients avoid unnecessary surgeries by having PRP injected into their joints, tendons, or ligaments. Commonly injected conditions include tennis elbow, rotator cuff tendonitis, knee arthritis, torn meniscus, and hip bursitis. Most patients require 2 injections that are performed 4-6 weeks apart. 50% of patients require a third injection for optimal results. PRP is also used for trigger point injections into muscles for pain control. Cortisone is typically used but it is very destructive. PRP is a better option to heal damaged tissue.
