As you age, you may be feeling a little-self conscious about wrinkles, spots and discolorations on your face that even the most high-end products and makeup can't treat. At Medicca, a med spa located in Dayton, Ohio, we offer a variety of facial treatments to combat these facialscommon problems. Dr. Christopher Sesslar and his highly-trained staff have answered a few of the questions they hear most frequently about facials at Medicca.

What types of facials are available?

At Medicca in Dayton, Ohio, we offer a variety of facial treatments, all aimed at giving you radiant, glowing skin. There are simple exfoliation and extraction treatments that clean and refresh the skin. We also offer chemical peels and microdermabrasion, both of which smooth your skin and minimize sun damage and discoloration. All of our treatments begin with a cleansing and evaluation of your skin by a facial technician.

What is a chemical peel?

An Esthetician at your Dayton med spa will begin the process of this facial treatment by applying an exfoliating solution to your face. The ingredients in this solution, which include alpha hydroxy acids, sloughs off the damaged outermost layer of skin, leaving behind a smoother, renewed surface with less wrinkles and "sun spots." A moisturizer is applied afterwards.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion facials at your Dayton med spa also use exfoliation to reveal unblemished skin, but this process is a physical one. Your facial technician gently uses a device that works like a vacuum to pull dead skin away from your skin.

How many facial treatments are needed?

The best results are usually achieved through a series of treatments. For simple facials, our staff recommends visiting Medicca in Dayton every one to two months. Microdermabrasion typically is offered in a series of six treatments, spaced out every two to four weeks. Chemical peels should be repeated once every few months, or more often depending on the condition of your skin and the strength of your peel. Consulting with one of our med spa staff members will help determine which treatment schedule is right for you.
